Testimonials from Sponsored Collaborators

M. Haleef, Ms. Fatema’s Collaborator

I have been receiving regular counseling sessions through Telepsych Pakistan for the past six months. Prior to this, I underwent treatment for anxiety at a government hospital, but my symptoms did not improve, leaving me dissatisfied with the care provided

Ms. Rida’s Collaborator

Therapy was something that I never thought I would ever get the chance to do. I was aware I had internal struggles, but I couldn’t articulate them in a way my parents could understand.

Have a question?

I am one of the people who are getting therapy through the sponsorship pools. I am greatly benefiting from this since this was a very critical phase in my life. Although I can afford therapy in years to come but since I’m a university graduate who is still on their way to finding a job or making a business successful to make ends meet. Access to sponsored therapy has been life-changing for me—struggling with worsening mental health, frequent flashbacks, and the lasting effects of complex trauma, I wouldn’t have been able to even apply for jobs without this opportunity.

Previously, I was getting therapy for free in my university. So I didn't plan much for post-graduation mental health care, but guess what? Telepsych Pakistan became the bridge when I was falling and failing. I plan to give back to Telepsych Pakistan once I become financially stable so that taking therapy doesn't just remain a 'privilege' or a status symbol that only rich people can afford but also being considered as a basic human need that anyone can have access to no matter the socio-economic class they belong to. I think this is one of the few organizations in Pakistan that are doing the effort of having sponsored sessions as well so I really commend them for the effort and I wish more organizations would do this. If we can normalize this approach, mental health care will no longer be seen as a taboo but as an essential part of well-being. One of the biggest challenges for those struggling with mental health is overcoming the stigma, and making therapy more accessible can help change that perception.

Therapy was something that I never thought I would ever get the chance to do. I was aware I had internal struggles, but I couldn't articulate them in a way my parents could understand. I never tried to convince them after I felt their disdain about what I was going through because according to them I had no issues. Hence it seemed futile to convince them.

However, when I came across Telepsych Pakistan on Instagram, it felt like I would get a tiny bit of relief if in the initial half an hour session I could get some answers to the loud questions in my head. When Dr. Yousuf offered me sponsored sessions, in that half-an-hour initial session, I quickly snatched the opportunity. It felt like a miracle because getting therapy without becoming a burden for my parents was something I never thought could ever be possible. Not to mention the fact that I had tried to get therapy for the past two years but as a woman, there could never be enough barriers. The financial barrier was definitely one of them.

Therapy has offered me countless gems starting from the smallest issues like to stop seeing my south asian reality from the lens of westernized psychotherapy; to actually acknowledging my issues and making me realize that I need to take actions to change them and giving me hope about all the dreams I thought I had to let go or to look at nuances before reaching conclusions. A mundane change like walking which actually provided earth shattering results, seems like for the first time ever I'm taking responsibility for my life.

I still have a lot more to overcome, in fact it feels like I have just started. At least I have stopped making mistakes like self diagnosing myself. Therapy gave me the initial push to take actions if I wanted to achieve my goals instead of daydreaming about them and the courage to take on my problems although a lot of work is still left to get to the point where I could use these tools to accomplish stuff independently but the entire point is to get there and I have the hope, thanks to therapy that I will get there eventually.

I have been receiving regular counseling sessions through Telepsych Pakistan for the past six months. Prior to this, I underwent treatment for anxiety at a government hospital, but my symptoms did not improve, leaving me dissatisfied with the care provided. Seeking better treatment, I approached Al Mustafa Trust Hospital Chaklala, where I found volunteer mental health professionals from Telepsych Pakistan and learned about their initiative to provide free, high-quality mental health care to deserving patients. Since then, I found many individuals, including myself, have greatly benefited from this service.
From my very first session, I noticed a positive change. My psychologist at Telepsych Pakistan listens with empathy, giving me the time and space to express my concerns. She took a detailed history of my experiences, helping me identify and address deep-rooted negative thought patterns. Through these counseling sessions, I began to think more clearly and learned to look at my emotions in a better way. This significantly boosted my confidence in facing daily challenges. I am much happier and feeling more content now.
I strongly encourage anyone struggling with anxiety or depression to seek professional help from Telepsych Pakistan’s experienced professionals. Their commitment to providing sponsored, quality mental health care to those in need is truly commendable. I also urge those who can afford to donate generously to support this initiative, ensuring that people with low incomes continue to receive the help they deserve.
