A true community, as we understand it, appreciates its members as unique individuals for who they are and facilitates their positive development to who they can be. In other words, it accords them dignity and facilitates their self-actualization.
So where
- Problem— People do not rise up to their true potential because of simple ignorance, corrupt concepts about psychology, disorganization, and psychological issues ranging from the very mild to the extremely severe psychiatric illnesses.
- Our Contribution— We look to educate and treat.
For the vast majority of the population we educate via webinars and one-one life-coaching sessions.
For those diagnosed with psychiatric illnesses we treat via therapy and, if needed, medications.
Our services are offered to individuals and organizations. If you are an individual seeking help click here. If you represent an organization click here.
Psychiatric consultations are provided using an online platform. These services may be availed by patients from their own phones/tabs/computers or a designated health facility. Telepsychiatry is advantageous in that patients are not required to travel to clinics/hospitals and are also able to avoid the stigma associated with such visits. A substantial research shows the benefits of telepsychiatry to be as much as in-person psychiatric consultations.
The main shortcomings would include technical difficulties and the inability of performing physical examinations. In order for a smooth session avoiding technical difficulties please follow the instructions provided here. As for the physical examinations, if and when indicated, referrals will be made to nearby facilities.
1. WE ARE PAINFULLY SELF-AWARE...
…that psychiatry, psychology, and life-coaching are rife with problems. Globally! Plus they don’t get along with each other. Our mission is in bringing the best of the three fields in a relationship for a better you. Fo’ real! fo’ Real!
We understand that psychiatry, around the globe, has been hijacked;
We understand that psychiatry, around the globe, has been hijacked; its roots have been chopped off by reductionist biology and its shoots have been stunted by corrupt pharmaceuticals.
The result: Psychiatry has become a pill-pushing enterprise and psychiatrists little more than legitimized drug dealers.
Don’t get us wrong, we believe psychiatric drugs work. We prescribe them wherever necessary.
Our beef is where prescribing medications becomes the sole intervention to the exclusion of all else.
Psychiatry was born of the holy matrimony of biology and psychology.
Our commitment to psychiatry begets that we aspire to re-relate it with its psychological origins and thereby dignify its relationship with biology as well.
We understand that psychology, around the globe, is psychotic. Big claim?
We understand that psychology, around the globe, is psychotic. Big claim? We wrote this as an academic proposal and may help you to understand our tall claim:
In modern times, the discipline of psychology is in a crisis. In its imitation of hard sciences (Giorgi), psychology maintained a prejudice against theism (Slife), stood upon WEIRD origins of universal claims (Norenzayan), advocated the “nothing but-ness of man” (Frankl), resulted in unbridgeable divides; theorist-practitioner (Martin), scientist-science (Osbeck), psychology-culture (Valsiner), which, in its futile efforts to resolve, resulted in “bad eclecticism” (Georgi) and further “fragmentation into psychological sciences” (Koch). In sum, psychology failed to meet its own ends as it was “hallmarked by determinism, reductionism, and autonomous individualism undergirded by a stringent materialism.” (Vitz)
Don’t get us wrong. Psychology still contains a treasure trove of wisdom. We are who we are because of it. The intricacy and effectiveness a bulk of its conceptions is mind-boggling. We have benefited from them and seek to continue that journey till death deny us.
Our beef is with the status-quo acceptance of the fragmentation, of the bias against theism, literature, and even philosophy, and with its blocking of the way of scientific inquiry.
Our commitment to psychology begets that we look to turn these fragmentation within psychology, and disconnect from outside of psychology, into mutually fruitful relationships.
We believe that the Life-Coaching Industry is deadly dangerous.
We understand that the life-coaching industry (and its self-help, motivational speaking, and religious preaching counterparts), around the globe, is deadly dangerous. For the most part the industry is founded by people ignorant of psychology/mental-health and exceptionally good in marketing. Their superficial resort to slogans and platitudes ignores the deeper intricacies of being human, falls easy prey to popular models of political correctness, and brandishes an infantile spirituality. Their criticism of the fields of psychiatry and psychology, implicit or explicit, are based on little more than hearsay. Their content is a cleverly disguised patchwork of ideas from psychology and spirituality trumpeted as “revolutionary” ideas.
Don’t get us wrong, we understand the need for coaching and self-help. We are aware that it continues to help people in many ways, even helps them recover from mental illnesses. We are also aware, as was Clemenceau, that the war is way too serious an affair to be left to the military.
Our beef is with the anarchy and chaos that will follow, and has already started to prevail, if the civilians take on arms without due regard and adequate communication with the military.
The mental health need of the community, as the WHO recognizes, requires that non-specialist resources be maximally utilized. Additionally, we recognize that there is a unique perspective that non-specialists bring to the team that specialists are simply incapable of.
Our commitment, therefore, to the coaching industry begets that we harness the uniqueness of gifted individuals and allow for them to serve the community building process by providing people support through coaching, and we fulfill that by providing adequate training and appropriate supervision. For this reason we have developed the concept of Mental Health Coaches and they formulate an indispensable part of the Telepsychiatry.Pk team.
2. WE TAKE THE .PK VERY SERIOUSLY
The challenges to, and posed by, psychiatry, psychology, and coaching are global.
However, we believe that the cultural context of Pakistan is a manifestation of divine grace. Our student populace is admitted to study at the best universities in the West. Our common high-school student is aware of the western cultural ideals. At the same time, we have preserved a religious/spiritual tradition brimming with centuries-old wisdom, with all its diversity, in multiple regional languages in poetry and prose. The work of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the spiritual and political founding father, affords us an inimitable framework to fruitfully relate these disparate sources of community development.
The meaning in life for Telepsychiatry.Pk is to actualize the potential that this cultural grace begets us with. In doing so, the mental health support that we offer to our audience will be a pacemaker for mental health professionals globally.
As Junaid Jamshed eternalized for us:
3. OUR TEAM IS COMMITTED TO LIFE-LONG LEARNING
The members of the founding team have either attained, or are on their way to attain, the highest qualification in psychiatry and psychology available in the country. Nevertheless, every single one of us is constantly pursuing courses under the mentor-ship of the best thinkers in the fields of psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, philosophy, religious studies, poetry, literature, and ethics. Additionally, the team members bring relevant material from their personal intellectual development for the benefit of the rest of the team. We endeavor to practice what we preach: if you’re not growing, you’re stagnating.
4. ANONYMITY & AFFORDABILITY
Let’s face it: it ain’t easy reaching out for help.
For one thing the stigma associated with,
What will people say? And so we allow you to keep the process completely anonymous. When you sign up for your session here you can use anonymous credentials throughout. Even the coach on the other end will be completely anonymous, if you want.
The second problem: Mucho Deniro, روکھڑا!, paisaa!
“If I had the money to afford a therapist, I wouldn’t need a therapist in the first place!”
Dr. Yousuf Raza
In the beginning I was scared of sharing my past with him; I was afraid of being judged. But the response that he gave was very compassionate; he understood me, supported me and respected me.
The starting time of my therapy was very tough indeed because I was in complete obedience of my own evil even unconsciously. There was so much of a mess that he had to deal with. I was repeatedly going in self-victimisation, but he helped me identify it and come out of it. My understanding about relationships was parasitic, he taught me the real definition of relationships. Also, how to deal with my anxiety attacks and depression.
He helped me identify the goodness inside me, my inner potentials and taught me that my life is way more than my past experiences and those incidents don’t define me and that all of those incidents had a meaning, my life has a meaning.
He made me realise that sufferings are blessings that allow you to become a better version of yourself. I am progressing. Becoming better bit by bit. I got admission in a university and I’m developing academically. I’m making amends in my relationships and taking responsibility. There was a time when I couldn’t imagine any of this.
Nida
Dr. Yousuf Raza
It wouldn’t have been possible without the uncountable therapy sessions by Dr. Yousuf. Had I dwelled in despair, I wouldn’t have been able to look after my kids. Raising psychologically healthy kids is not possible without being emotionally strong yourself. I truly believe he played a vital role in saving the lives of my kids.
Being a doctor myself, I never thought that psychiatrists could save lives but my first-hand experience says they do as much as an Emergency Room Consultant does.
Maria
Dr. Yousuf Raza
We decided to proceed through sessions first and if need arises then augment them with antidepressants. What he did in those sessions was he tried to make me understand my emotions and where they were coming from. He untangled different problems, and convinced me to solve them one by one.
When you seek professional help for the first time you don’t know exactly what’s wrong with you, let alone know how to fix it. Your thinking is blurred. Your vision is blurred for that matter. These sessions clear your vision. The more clear you are able to think, the more you become capable of identifying hidden pitfalls, deficiencies, cracks, wounds, bruises, dried pus in your psyche.
It’s a painstaking process. But what is important is that there is a person who is willing to lead this painstaking journey without getting annoyed or judgmental. He will offer you help according to your needs. He will give you an opportunity to decide the direction of progression of your sessions.
Naba
Dr. Yousuf Raza
I have learnt to solve daily issues of my life with my conscience, and I am able to help others, who are passing through such difficulties. My relationships are more fulfilling and my career is moving on ahead.
Tehreem
Dr. Yousuf Raza
He helped me develop a better understanding of many things in life such that I can find divine in even something bad. He showed me that there are both negative and positive aspects of things to think about. He assisted me in identifying the source of my pain and how it was holding me back to move on in life.
With his guidance, I am learning to identify and arrest addictive behaviors, replace negative thought patterns with positive self-talk and eliminate unhealthy behaviors from my life. I am practicing self-love and becoming my better self to do meaningful things in life.
He has given me the tools I need to check and make my actions better and to grow in life. I’m married now. There was a time I thought this wouldn’t ever happen. My relationship with my family is improving. I have an exceptional GPA. Spiritual, I’m in a better place than ever before.
Gohar
Dr. Yousuf Raza
These sessions helped me regain the motivation, strength and confidence I had gradually lost over the past couple of years, allowing me to embark on a new chapter in my life.
Zainuddin
Dr. Zarnab
Before my sessions I had physical symptoms of stress and anxiety, including a few panic attacks here and there. Through Dr Zarnab’s help I learned a lot, about the process of healing, allowing ourselves to grieve, understanding trauma, managing post traumatic aftermath, bereavement and on top of everything elimination of this pesky false guilt.

Dr. Omar Murtaza
First came an email, then came my first therapy session with Dr Omer Murtaza. As it was a preliminary session so it only lasted for around 20-25 minutes. Those 25 minutes literally saved me. Why? Because when we speak to our friends or family members about the tragedy that’s been causing us mental health issues, we are just venting to them! But when we speak to psychiatrists we actually learn how to process it.
I never saw a psychiatrist in my life, according to a common perception I was expecting to be asked to pop pills to calm my antsy nerves. But Dr Omar Murtaza asked me if I was ever comfortable with medication to treat the symptoms. Which I said no to. And down the road not only did they respect my decision, they also showed an unconventional approach to treating my anxiety prone self.

Ms. Fatema
You’ve [Mental Health Coach] helped me understand how self sympathy can be turned to empathy. How every negative/ bad situation that bothers us has a tint of good in it. How my shattered dreams and hopes helped me grow and don’t define my life. You’ve made me feel valued, heard and important.
You know for sure your therapist is good when your own family acknowledges a positive change in you.

Mr. Qayyim
I have learned that there’s a strong correlation between thoughts and actions, and thoughts that are negative or unreasonable often lead to unfavorable outcomes. I now have a much better eye for any progress I make, no matter how small. Each small achievement reaffirms my belief that I am on a path of improvement.
I never felt judged. My struggles were never belittled. I felt acknowledged which made me want to open up more. I felt like I was working with someone who is knowledgeable about his field and passionate about what we were doing.

Dr. Samiya
I was in guilt, shame, a deep, dark pit of sadness after I realised that what I did was wrong… kept repenting, crying, isolated myself from my family but nothing worked. That’s when I decided to seek help. In those days Telepsychiatry was launched and I opted for email sessions. Dr Samiya Iqbal was appointed as my therapist and I told her everything that happened, something which I was unable to discuss with anyone… She made me realise my self-worth, making me re-engage in the activities which brought me peace, the reality of that relationship.

Dr. Arooj
The first few sessions were hard, I was brought face to face with all the pain I was hiding and running away from. I did think of backing away at that point, the thought did cross my mind but I knew it was necessary inconvenience.
She is like my guide, my mentor, my coach who is helping me achieve my goals, and fulfil my purpose… it feels like now I have someone I can ask every question that comes into my mind, everything that bothers me and without the fear of being judged, she makes me feel that having all these negative thoughts is the most human thing ever, that its okay.
